Miracle Mile Art Walk Gives Neighbors an Opportunity to View More Than Forty Stellar Galleries
Citywide Collectors, Patrons, Community Members to Experience Neighborhood Arts Community monthly

More than 40 art galleries and art museums participate in “Miracle Mile Art Walk” held on the third Saturday of each month in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles. Each month features a specific group of galleries. November galleries include galleries on Beverly Boulevard and La Brea.

Reception and Artist Lecture: The November host gallery is Michael Kohn Gallery, at 8071 Beverly Blvd. An artist lecture by Darren Waterston and an opening reception will be held at 2 p.m. The reception will be generously donated by Natura Pan Mediterranean Foods. Balloons will identify the gallery.
Free guided tour: A special tour of galleries will include Michael Kohn Gallery (Host), Tobey C. Moss Gallery and The Loft at Liz’s. The tour will begin at the host gallery, Michael Kohn Gallery, with the reception at 2:00 p.m. There will be an introduction to each gallery and exhibit. Transportation will be provided by the Holly Trolley. Art walkers may also ride bikes or drive.

After Party: An after party for art walkers will be held at Little Bar – 757 South La Brea Avenue from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Music: Mojo Monkeys <http://www.mojomonkeys.net>

The Holly Trolley shuttle, courtesy of Councilmen Tom La Bonge and Jack Weiss, will make a continuous loop stopping near galleries (look for balloons for trolley stops), beginning at 2:00 p.m. at 6222 Wilshire Blvd.

“Miracle Mile Art Walk” is organized by the Arts & Recreation Committee of the Mid City WEST Community Council which promotes and supports the visual and performing arts & recreational venues by identifying the participating organizations, supporting their community outreach, and ensuring their long term viability as stakeholders.

hi……one week from now, we will magically appear at ronnie mack’s barn dance at el cid in silverlake. you should appear there, too. it will be a special night. the barn dance is always a good time. the first tuesday of every month, free to get in, parking is easy, and el cid is my favorite place….. built in the 1930s, good food, lots of vibe.

new hang, new cd, benefit

hey…. we’ve been sold out for a while, but we’ve cooked up a brand new batch of our “hang” cds version .03…… these have a red disk instead of the old yellow one, and the proper song order. i know some of you remember version .01 with the wrong song order. well, we’re really getting organized now….tell you what. we need to sell these to finance the manufacture of our new “blessings and curses” cd.

and yes, we are writing new songs…. and turning down gigs. i promise we’ll play a show soon.

so, if you need 1 or 2 or 6 copies of hang, v.03, grab one of us next time you see us and we’ll sell you some.

as a side note, i’ll be playing a benefit show with phil alden robinson (writer and director of “field of dreams” and other movies) at busby’s on wilshire this friday night. there’s no cover, only donations at the door for the fund to help people affected by the writers’ strike.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT FUND

The Writers Guild Foundation has established an Industry Support Fund to assist members of the industry who are in financial distress as a direct result of the Writers Guild of America strike against the AMPTP, which began on November 5, 2007. This Fund is designed to provide emergency assistance for food, housing, transport, medical and other expenses, and will do this in two ways:

1) Make grants to organizations like The Actors Fund who are already providing emergency financial assistance and comprehensive social services; and

2) Assist individuals who do not qualify for other organizations, or whose financial need is greater than those organizations can provide. The IS Fund will not provide cash assistance but, where appropriate, may pay one or more bills on behalf of the applicant.
